Print Design and Illustration

Your job calls for more than templates or clip art. Let us turn it into the design project you’re dreaming of.

Offset and Digital Printing

Print has a visceral and tangible nature that sets it apart from the digital world. Look under the hood at what goes into creating printed products.

Banners and Wide-Format

It can be hard to get people to notice your message these days. Say it with a big, eye-catching banner or sign.

Standing Together with You

As a designer, progressive, and former JP community member, it’s been my pleasure to work with Red Sun for the last decade. Their consistency in service and quality, coupled with their strong roots in solidarity of worker and human rights has kept Equal Exchange a satisfied customer for many years.

Graphic Designer and worker-owner, Equal Exchange

Our job is to help people make green energy choices, and Red Sun Press has always been there for us on print materials. They treat us like people, and take care with the work that I don’t find at big printing companies, for a comparable (if not better) price. We feel good that they are worker-owned and environmentally friendly, and are proud to call them friends.

Red Sun Press is an amazing partner in all of JVP Boston’s organizing — always ready to jump in to create beautiful graphics, posters, banners, and leaflets as we stand together in the fight for justice.  Their work is powerful, prompt and always perfect! We can’t imagine doing what we do without Red Sun.

Jewish Voice for Peace Boston

Jewish Voice for Peace slam-dunks with P/I video

This video appears on YouTube, among many other places; but there it is greeted by the usual chorus of war-mongering hatred that any honest treatment of P/I information is likely to produce. JVP has produced this primer for people like you and me, and, frankly, anyone who needs a basic way to communicate the issue. This great group has risen to prominence (props to the especially active chapter in Boston), both stirring and riding a wave of new consciousness about the conflict of Palestine and Israel, embodying the best of progressive activism, social justice, and straight-up humanity.

Own The Change

Thinking about starting a worker co-op, or going to work for one? This video, from GRITtv & TESA, the Toolbox for Education and Social Action, is a good primer on the cooperative movement and what it means to form a worker-co-op. Interviews with workers from many U.S. co-ops help piece together an engaging and compelling argument why co-ops are a real alternative to the income inequality and oppression common in the traditional capitalist model. Enjoy.

Co-operation Nation

The worker co-op movement goes back almost to the day when when people first strapped on their boots and headed out to the factory or into the fields. Today in the U.S. there are thousands of businesses organized around the principles of cooperation, forming an increasingly significant sub-culture of the economy. With umbrella organizations such as the U.S Federation of Worker Co-ops welcoming new co-ops every day, the working world is beginning to get a leg up on economic justice and democratic control in the workplace. The movement had grown enough by 2012 that United Nations established it as the “International Year of Cooperatives.” Red Sun Press has been a proud member of the co-op movement since 1973, when a group of Boston activists banded together to create printed materials for the anti-war and social justice efforts of the era. They had open membership, with training and support for the workers to support an autonomous commercial print shop. While “certification” of any kind is not strictly necessary to establish a business as a cooperative (check with the secretary of state in your state about possible special incorporation status), it helps to be allied with other co-ops in formal structures to get support and to advance the co-op movement itself. The ICA Group and the Democracy at Work Network among others provide resources and training for business seeking to establish a co-operative identity and structure.  Red Sun recently received status from the International Co-operative Alliance, joining hundreds of other businesses around the world in growing “cooperation among cooperatives.” The Marque of the alliance will appear on Red Sun’s literature as a symbol of our enduring commitment to the worker cooperative enterprise.

Celebrating Success with AANE

Among Red Sun’s many valued customers, The Asperger/Autism Network (AANE) deserves some special recognition right now for their tireless campaigns promoting awareness and advocacy around Asperger Syndrome and similar autism spectrum profiles.

Red Sun worked with AANE on a deluxe invitation package for their upcoming Benefit Gala in Boston. The job involved a complex die-cut on a beautiful illustration, as well as a time-sensitive mailing component. Red Sun came through with flying colors on both accounts, hitting the bright hues of the illustration on press, and saving the organization over $500 in mailhouse costs!

The April 11 event at Black Falcon Pier will feature great food, entertainment and a fabulous wine wall. It will raise funds for AANE’s programs and services in New England.

AANE works with individuals, families, and professionals to help people with Asperger syndrome build meaningful, connected lives. They provide information, education, community, support, and advocacy, all in an atmosphere of validation and respect.

2015 Calendar Depicts Threats of Injustice

Red Sun Press’ 2015 calendar is here, featuring an original illustration by Jesse Racusen, our newest Digital Production Specialist. We’ve mailed a bunch of them already, but let us know if you haven’t received it or would like additional copies. The striking image of ghostly desolation is accented by an eminent quote from Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., “An injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” In regards to this year’s stunning graphic, the artist has stated that “This piece is mainly a response to the senseless violence that has transpired between Israel and Palestine, but it also serves as a call to end unjust killings happening both here in the United States and around the world.”
